General Information

Forge Your Future is operated by WithYouWithMe in partnership with Year 13. We are redefining how government and defence industry discover, engage and connects with the next generation workforce.

Enabled by the Australian Government’s Defence Industry Schools Pathway Program and supporting the South Australian Defence Industry Workforce and Skills Action Plan, this cutting-edge initiative flips the traditional workforce model — putting students in control of their futures.
Australian high school students aged 15 to 19 from all states and territories who are interested in exploring careers within Australia’s Defence Industry.
There is no cost for individuals to participate.
Forge Your Future gives students a once-in-a-generation chance to shape the future of Australian defence capability and innovation - and directly connects industry with its future workforce.

Using AI-driven behavioural science-based tools, we provide students with deep insight to discover their natural strengths, engage them with introductory career exploration resources alongside opportunities to gain industry experience and certifications, and connect with their future employers.
You will discover how your potential aligns to some of Australia’s fastest growing workforce segments, engage with tailored content to explore career options, and connect with unprecedented opportunities to engage with Defence Industry and Forge Your Future career path.
There is no minimum or maximum time commitment and most content is available on-demand. If you choose to complete your Potential assessment, you will need between 45-90 minutes, however this can be done across multiple sessions.
Your school will determine if participation is mandatory. If you’re not engaging as part of a school program, your participation in Forge Your Future is entirely voluntary.

No, Forge Your Future is run by WithYouWithMe and Year13 with support from Government.

Funding is provided by the Department of Defence through the Defence Industry Schools Pathways Program, and is delivered, and supported by the South Australian Government through the South Australian Defence Industry Workforce and Skills Action Plan.

Parental & Educator Involvement

Parents who wish to engage with Forge Your Future should contact parents@forgeyourfuture.com.au. You may be required to provide proof of identity before any information is provided. If your child is 18 years or older, there are limits to the amount of personal information that we will share without your child’s consent.
Yes, teachers who are facilitating a formal school engagement will be provided access to track students progress and view results. Contact schools@forgeyourfuture.com.au for more information.

Yes, resources for parents and teachers will be available on forgeyourfuture.com.au prior to the program being launched to students in May.

Child Safety & Wellbeing

We have enacted the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and all staff engaging directly with individuals will undergo working with children checks to ensure a child safe environment.

No. Parental consent is only required if you are under the age of 15.

Career Tools / My Career Portal users

No. Whilst some Forge Your Future content will be available via Career Tools, you will need to register for Forge Your Future separately to engage with all content and opportunities.
No. Personally identifiable information (PII) is not shared between Career Tools and Forge Your Future. However, some de-identified, aggregated data on specific Forge Your Future initiative content (such as engagement with Academy content) may be used to meet government reporting requirements.
No. Data collected by Forge Your Future will not be linked to your Career Tools account. If this becomes an option in future, you will be asked to enable this functionality.

Industry Engagement & Career Opportunities

Using AI-driven behavioural science-based tools we provide students with deep insight to discover their natural strengths, engage with opportunities to gain industry experience and certifications, and connect with their future employers.
Whilst this is not guaranteed, you will have opportunities to express interest in real-world engagement opportunities. The number of places, and selection of those who participate will be up to the provider of that opportunity.
Yes. Forge Your Future will directly link you with employers, training and further education opportunities aligned with your Potential giving you the best chance to find a long-term stable and rewarding career.
Only with your explicit consent, when registering for an opportunity you will be asked for permission to share your data with the required employer/industry group. You may not be able to participate in the opportunity if you elect not to share your data.

Yes, all content is mobile optimised; however, you may find completing your potential testing is easier on a desktop or laptop computer.

To report your concerns or make a complaint please contact the Forge Your Future Program Director at programdirector@forgeyourfuture.com.au.

Alternatively, you may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) via oaic.gov.au.
Every complaint about child safety will be handled with a matter of urgency. We will perform an immediate risk assessment on your concern and contact you if we require further information. We will take timely action to resolve your complaint which includes engagement with our partners or government stakeholders if applicable.

If you are not satisfied with the handling of your complaint, you may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) via oaic.gov.au.
